Date and Time

Date and time can be expressed in LogosLink with a variable degree of detail.

Details

Many properties in LogosLink are of a temporal nature, so they are expressed as dates and/or times. For example, document publication dates or inclusion dates, or the date of birth of authors, are expressed in this manner.

However, sometimes we don't know the details of a date/time. For example, we may know that a particular document was published in April 1951, but we may ignore the specific day.

To cater for situations like these, LogosLink provides different kinds of temporal resolution for some date/time properties. The supported resolutions and their formats are listed below:

  • CCc for century, such as 19c to indicate the 19th century.
  • YYY0s for decade, such as 1980s to indicate the 1980s decade.
  • YYYY for year, such as 1945.
  • MM/YYYY for month and year, such as 11/2001 to indicate November 2001.
  • DD/MM/YYYY for day, month and year, such as 24/05/1912 to indicate 24 May 1912.
  • DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM for day, month, year, hours and minutes, such as 24/05/1912 17:38.
  • DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM:SS for day, month, year, hours, minutes and seconds, such as 24/05/1912 17:38:06.
