Text Content

Most types of models, namely ontologies, argumentation models and agency models, can have some text content. This is the text that works as a basis for analysis.

Details

Ontologies, argumentation models and agency models are developed by carefully reading and analysing a piece of text.

The text content usually appears in its own panel at the bottom centre of the window. If the content panel is not visible, you can show it by clicking the Content button on the View ribbon tab.

The content panel has a toolbar with buttons to change the text font size; change the word wrapping and scrolling options; select, cut, copy and paste text fragments; add or remove sections of text; and find a piece of text. On the right, there is a drop-down box where you can select the language of the text, or just click the button to automatically determine it.

A padlock icon on the right shows whether the text can be changed or is read-only. A text is usually changeable unless you have added model elements that hold references to specific segments of text. In that case, the text will become read-only in order to preserve the existing references. Even when a text is read-only, you can prepend, insert, append and remove sections of text if they don't overlap with any references that may exist.

You can carry out analysis on a piece of text as taken straight from its source. However, it is common to perform some clean-up tasks before analysis, such as repairing broken lines or removing superfluous characters. Please see the text preparation page for additional details.
